New Tires!

IMG_3794.JPG

I hate buying new tires!  It seems like the biggest waste of money.  So what that they keep you on the road and help you stop.  They are expensive and you seem to replace them all the time.  I hate them!  But my little Honda Fit does use 15″ tires, which is cool.

I do only buy Firestone tires though because they have a higher failure rate!  Or was that just on crappy Ford Explorers tires?

Over 50,000 miles!

IMG_8438.JPG

In 1 year and 7 months I have gone over 50,000 in my little Honda Fit.

Honda Fit Keyless Entry install

IMG_8320.JPG

This is not car wash related but did you know that you can add your own options after purchasing a car?  I got keyless entry for Christmas ($120) and added it to my car today, which took around 30 minutes.  When I purchased the car they wanted $500.

SECWA meeting drive: 47 MPG

IMG_6707.JPGIMG_6744.JPG

While driving to Atlanta, GA from Birmingham, AL it took 330.3 miles.  I filled up my car before I left and then after I got back and got 46.8 MPG.  Pretty good for my little Honda Fit.

Honda Fit beats Chevy Vet in a street race?

Picture 145.jpgPicture 141.jpg

Now, my little fit can’t lift as much as this yellow work device (right picture) but my work car did fit a 24 foot ladder on top.  (My dad’s Vet can’t do that).

Picture 150.jpgPicture 152.jpg

Also, while on the roof of my Dad’s car wash I noticed where all the stolen cones go (right picture, blue cone).

Last known photo of my Toyota hub cap for my Honda Fit

IMG_2802.JPGIMG_2804.JPGIMG_2805.JPG

Well it’s official: I lost my Toyota hub cap again.  I think it is gone forever.  But I did find this 15 inch Toyota hub cap, too bad I need a 14 inch Toyota hub cap for my car.  Maybe I can trade someone?

I have very fond memories of my Toyota hub cap.  Like the time Greg was washing my car: he was showing off his tire cleaner and how well it worked.  It worked so well that large chunks of paint came off the hub cap.  You should have seen Greg’s face…those were the days.

Installing NOS in my little Honda Fit

IMG_2607.JPG

Actually, I drank the NOS before I changed my air filter. This how-to is for changing out your air filter in the little Honda Fit. Well, I don’t know how to change my oil so I went to the Express Lube and apparently the car is too new to have the filter in stock. (Why does every car on Earth need a cabin air filter? I thought they were just for nice cars? Also why would I ever want to replace it? I walk outside and I don’t live in a bubble.)

The difficulty level for changing out your air filter is: SUPER HARD

IMG_2613.JPGIMG_2612.JPGIMG_2619.JPG

First, find the only place the filter will fit. Second, open place where filter may fit (my car has 4 latches). Third, surprise! you found the air filter.

IMG_2622.JPGIMG_2634.JPGIMG_2636.JPGIMG_2637.JPG

I guess the filter is dirty enough to replace? I have no idea, they just told me to replace it. Second picture shows a little bridge thing going down (or just pay attention how the other one looked when you removed it). Look how pretty the new filter is! Snap it back up. Super easy! All the car repairs I have done: Change disk brakes, drum brakes and air filter. I also can fix some carwash problems.

Honda Fit brake change

IMG_1371.JPGIMG_1369.JPGIMG_1378.JPGIMG_1381.JPG

2 weird things with my little Honda Fit: 1) This car bolts the brake fluid hose to the car. 2) This car also seems to wear the inside brake pads a lot more then the outside pads (left side is the inside pad, the last picture is the outside pad). Usually I thought that the pads should wear evenly?

New pads after 25,000, not very good. I must not drive very well?

Honda Fit out of gas again?

IMG_0889.JPGIMG_0903.JPG

So I guess I am a moron again.  My little car somehow ran out of gas.  So I decided to use my Magellan skills and my trusty Garmin gps device to blaze a short cut through some neighborhoods and the woods.

IMG_0895.JPGstand_by_me[1].jpg

When I got to the railroad tracks all I could think of when I was trying to find an easy way up the bank was the scene from Stand By Me and the song.  But there was no bridge and train.

IMG_0899.JPGIMG_0900.JPG

When walking down one of the train tracks (I had to get over 2 tracks) I found whatever this is.  It looks kind of important for a train?  But I am not a conductor.

IMG_0901.JPGIMG_0902.JPG

It was an adventure of a lifetime.  I saw a broken down outhouse and horses on some farm like area.  All I know is I thought I was going to get shot or find a “dead body” (bad joke from movie?).  Well, after my hour of hiking and navigating the back country, I gave up and I may have called for a ride back to my car.  I do not really remember.

Breaking the LAW!

IMG_7732.JPGIMG_7738.JPG

Look what I found at the car wash just laying on the ground.  Now I can insert this piece of a seat belt into my Honda Fit and I will not get any more annoying beeping when driving without my seat belt.  It was a slow day and now I can drive around all day with no seat belt.  Actually, I am not sure why I still have this piece.

Cleanup, no more hub cap and go green

IMG_9491.JPGIMG_9493.JPGIMG_9494.JPG

I got to dig out a pit today, which is always fun.  I lost my Toyota hub cap for my Honda Fit and the green microfiber towels ($2.00) out sold yellow ($1.50).

Honda or Toyota?

IMG_9455.JPGIMG_9451.JPG

I always try to purchase a Toyota before I purchase a Honda.  But today someone left these Toyota 14″ hob caps. Why?  I don’t know why, but they are awesome. Now I have Toyota caps on my fly Honda Fit.

New used tires

IMG_8737.JPGIMG_8741.JPGIMG_8744.JPG

I purchased 4 new tires from a guy off ebay.  They came with the rims and I replaced my spare tire with a full size spare.  But the full size tire for the spare really does not fit correctly in the Honda Fit.

Honda Fit problem

IMG_6773.JPGIMG_6776.JPGIMG_6777.JPG

My dome light burnt out on my Fit.  It only took 4 months.  I went to AutoZone for the DE3175 replacement light.

Honda Fit out of gas

IMG_8564.JPGIMG_8580.JPG

Have you ever wondered what a Honda Fit looked like out of gas?  Well here it is, kind of looks the same as when it has gas.  For anyone who has this car and runs out of gas, get 2 gallons of gas or it will not start.  The closest gas station only has a gallon tank and I had to make 2 trips to get the car to started.  Not fun.  It ran out of gas with 10,000 miles on it.
